PILLOW Prepare your quilt sandwich, I used spray base but you van just lightly pin or sew baste them.I used a cheap Polycotton backing as it will never be seen.I have added a page of stems and leaves you can print and use for the green stems but I prefer to use one piece of Heat n Bond and cut my stems as shown.Print or trace the flower templates on to the Heat n Bond. Continue to make and cut out your stems, leaves, flowers and insects. You can use as many flowers as you like the design is yours so have fun, no two pillows will be the same.Cut the center of the heat n bond before ironing it on to the WRONG side of your chosen fabric.Cut your flowers, leaves and insects on the drawn line.Lay out your leave first, remove the backing paper and press them to the background fabric as shown, or in your design choice.Lay out your leave first, remove the backing paper and press them to the background fabric as shown, or in your design choice.Now take all your flower pieces and lay them out as shown or in your design choice.Sew them using a straight stitch along the edges and make some extra lines to define the leaves.Here’s how to remove the heat n bond before sticking it to your fabric.Top side.This shows the glue side.First flower placement GLUE SIDE DOWN.Continue in the manner until you are happy with your layout. Sewing the flowers. I used matching threads for each flower. Sew carefully around the flowers a few times, I did three rounds. Cut the tread.Next place the insect bodies or wings on the pillow randomly.Sew them in place and then add the wings or bodies and sew them in place. Adding antenna and stingers where needed. Now you are ready to quilt the pillow. I used a simple swirl design all around the flowers, I did not quilt on top of them apart from when I added a spider’s web for fun.I did swirls.Cobwebs and spiders.Your pillow top is now complete, trim it to 19.5” square.
Prepare the pillow back.
Cut 2 pieces of your back fabric approx 19.5″ x 12″Sew the zip to the first piece as shown below.Cut another piece 19.5” x 12”, fold and press the top 2” inward as shown sew the other side of the zip to the second piece as shown, it must be close to the inner part of the 2” lip.Attach a ribbon to the sip pull and leave an opening so you can turn the pillow later.Pin the back to the top right sides together.Sew twice around the edge, taking care when sewing over the zip, trim the corners and turn the pillow right sides out.Add a pillow pad, I used one from Ikea.Make as many pillows as you need,
