A couple of years ago I made my mother a Farm Girl quilt and at the same time made an extra block of each one for myself, Mum’s was finished ages ago and she uses it as her summer quilt but mine is only just completed but I like that we now both have the same quilt on our beds in the summer, as she lives in Scotland and I don’t see as much of her as I would like.

What a great choice of backing fabric, very simple quilting was asked for as complex quilting on a colorful quilt like this would be lost on it, I love the simple straight triangles .

I managed to meet up with Juniper-Rose while I was in the highlands, she lives in Edinburgh but luckily for me she was up visiting her mum so I was able to give her quilt to her in person.

I sewed up this quilt in a weekend super fast piecing without precision!

I decide that wanted to do some really fast and fun quilting so I quilted a snake all around the border then I filled with piano keys and squiggles.

Then on the centre of the quilt I filled it up with swirls and lines.

I am using this quilt on my bed this summer as it’s to hot here for anything else, it’s super light weight and cuddly.

A vintage look quilt

Made with lots of lawn weight cottons from my stash.

I used a very light weight white cotton for the stars.

A bright pink cotton for the backing and 80/20 cotton/poly for the batting, it’s a super soft quilt especially for a dear friend in Scotland.

I used a pantograph to quilt it loosely adding to the softness of the quilt, perfect for summer picnics and festivals or a day at the beach.

I am so sorry I have not been posting for a long time, I have been ill with shingles, a chest infection and other compications concerning the shingles, I lost way too much weight and along with it all my strength. I am soooo not used to being unwell and had no idea how difficult it can be to get everything done you usually do.  My doctor has given me three months off school and told me to take the rest of the summer of from my quilting work to recover. Yes rest works, I am reading the books I never got time to read, cooking tasty suppers for my self and getting lots of walks, its been a hot early summer so I have been able to lounge in the garden on a couple of quilts and relax, picnics in the woods too. Life is bliss.

This is a Jen Kingwell quilt called Long Time Gone I thought it would be just perfect for this post,I started it in the winter but never got it finished so here it is, done.

I loved making this quilt, I used scraps of fabric from my scrap jars to make it, I only used yardage for the gray sashings.

I quiltied it using a pantograph calle Love Peace and Happiness its my favourite panto and use it a lot on my own quilts.

Can there ever be too many photos of a quilt, no I think not so here are some more.

Gitte’s Gravity quilt, piece and machine quilted on her domestic sewing machine. Proof you dont need a big longarm quilting machine to quilt your own king size quilt. Gitte lives in Aarhus in an appartment, she is a retired doctor has been patchworking and quilting for many years and quilts all her own quilts and makes them mainly for her family.

I am a huge fan of Gitte’s work I find it very refreshing and get a lot of insparation from her quilts.

I totally love the way she changes effortlessly from one design to another.

And throws in a feather here and there creating a wonderful effect.

The finished quilt looks amazing in her summer house along with a pillow she made.
